How to Enroll

To enroll in Compass Rose Medicare Advantage you must be a Compass Rose Health Plan retiree with Medicare Parts A and B.

Current Members

If you are a retiree currently enrolled in the Compass Rose Health Plan and enrolled in both Medicare Parts A and B, you can enhance your benefits with Medicare Advantage at any time throughout the year. You must remain enrolled in the Compass Rose Health Plan to be eligible for the enhanced level of benefits.

Call our dedicated Compass Rose Medicare Advantage line with UnitedHealthcare to enroll at (844) 279-9286, TTY 711, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, seven days a week.

New to Compass Rose

To enroll in Compass Rose Medicare Advantage, you will need to be a Compass Rose Health Plan member first. Our plan is open to active employees and retirees of the Intelligence Community, Department of State, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security.

You can make the switch during Open Season — which runs from November 14, 2022 to December 12, 2022. Visit opm.gov for the online election form (pdf) or call the OPM Retirement Information Center at (888) 767-6738 to enroll in the Compass Rose Health Plan. Once you are a Compass Rose Health Plan member, you can elect the enhanced benefits of Compass Rose Medicare Advantage at any time throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage plans are Part C plans which are offered by private insurers. They offer all the benefits of original Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. Many Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage (Part D) and typically include additional benefits, features and programs. You must remain enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B to be eligible for a Medicare Advantage plan.

Search for providers, hospitals and other health care facilities within the nationwide UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage network using our Provider Directory.

You can see any provider outside of the network, as long as they accept Medicare and the plan. Accepting the plan means the doctor is willing to see the retiree and bill UnitedHealthcare.

There is no additional cost to enroll in the Compass Rose Medicare Advantage Plan. You will continue to pay your Compass Rose Health Plan premium as well as your Medicare Part B premium. You and your eligible spouse will each receive a Medicare Part B subsidy of $125 per month when enrolled in the Compass Rose Medicare Advantage plan.

Under Compass Rose Medicare Advantage, your prescription drug benefit will be provided by OptumRx®, a UnitedHealth Group company. You may need prior authorization or a new prescription for mail order medications. The Quick Start Guide that you receive following your enrollment in the plan will include OptumRx contact information.

Yes. You must be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B to be eligible for the Compass Rose Medicare Advantage Plan and you must continue to pay your Part B premium to the government. If you stop paying your Part B premium, you may be disenrolled from your plan.

By enrolling into the Compass Rose Medicare Advantage Plan, Compass Rose will subsidize $125 of your monthly Part B premium.
